Highland Park firefighters are investigating the cause of two early-morning house fires.

Flames broke out just before 4 Wednesday morning on Florence Street. The two homes were just two blocks apart, so fire officials are considering the fires suspicious.

Highland Park firefighters battled the frigid air in order to prevent the flames from spreading.

Both of the homes were vacant. No one was injured in the fires.
