Fans turn out in cold for Tigerfest
Anticipation of baseball filled Comerica park Saturday as the 2013 edition of Tigerfest was held.
Thousands of baseball fans braved the January cold to meet, greet and get autographs from several Detroit Tiger players, including Miguel Cabrera, Doug Fister, Alex Avila and others.
Brady Chicone was one of the many to come to see the players and feel the excitement of the upcoming season, with additions to the Tigers lineup.
"We got Torii Hunter, he'll have a big role. We hav e V-Mart coming back," Chicone said.
Along with getting autographs, visitors were able to hear Tigers manager Jim Leyland discuss his outlook for the 2013 campaign.
Mike Miller of Monroe was one of the few adults taking advantage of face painting at the ballpark. He showed why he is a die-hard fan.
"The Tigers have always been our team. We have no other team. There is no other team," Miller said.
Spring training in Florida gets underway in February.
The Tigers open the season on the road, April 1 in Minnesota.
Opening Day at Comerica Park is Friday, April 5 against the New York Yankees.
