Elderly woman killed in Detroit house fire

A Detroit family is mourning the loss of a loved one Sunday night.

Neighbors on the 2200 block of Monterey called 911 when they saw smoke coming from the back of a home on the city's west side.

When fire fighters arrived, the flames were too hot, preventing them from getting to the back room where an elderly woman was.

By the time they were able to get to the room, the woman was dead.

Investigators are working to determine the cause of the fire.
