Eastpointe police say a man attempted to abduct a 13-year-old girl Friday afternoon when she was walking home from Kelly Middle School.

The girl was walking near Universal and Ego avenues when she noticed she was being followed by a red, rusty Ford Taurus.

The driver was a white man in his 30s. He was described as 6 feet 1 inch tall with a medium build and wearing a black skull cap and black leather coat.

The man got out of the car and walked behind the girl. She ran away. The man gave chase but stopped. He returned to the car and drove off in an unknown direction.

The girl ran home and told her mother who told police.

Anyone with information on the man should contact the Eastpointe Police Department at 586-445-5100.
