Police followed the driver as he recklessly traveled down Fort Street.

LINCOLN PARK, Mich. -

Video from a Lincoln Park police cruiser's dash cam shows a sports utility vehicle blow through the city's holiday lights display.

The video from Sunday afternoon shows the officer start to follow the driver of a red Chevrolet pickup truck traveling nearly 80 miles per hour on Fort Street.

The driver ignored police and kept speeding. The SUV barreled over the median and took out a portion of the light display.

"That's just sad because the city puts out a lot of money to put out these displays," said resident Sarah West. "That's just taking from the community. My parents live in Lincoln Park. They pay taxes. It's a shame."

Police arrested 31-year-old Rodney Bree, but not without a fight. Police say at first Bree refused to cooperate. Officers had to pull him out of the truck to arrest him. Police say he told officers he had taken prescription medication. He was slurring his speech and could barley stand up straight.

"People these days they need to get their act together," said Marion Nagy, of Lincoln Park.

Bree is facing months in jail if convicted of charges.
