19-year-old Sterling Heights man killed when car slams into Walmart

STERLING HEIGHTS, Mich. – A young diver was killed early Monday morning when he drove his car into the side of a Walmart in Sterling Heights.

The crash happened at about 4 a.m. at the store on Van Dyke near 14 Mile road.

Police said the victim is 19-year-old Jacob Geml, of Sterling Heights, and that he may have intentionally driven his car into the building at a high rate of speed.

"It's just a weird set of circumstances to have at this hour in the morning, about 4 a.m. to have this car hit the wall," said Sterling Heights police Lt. Dale Dwojakowski. "Motive, reason, what happened, accident or if this was done intentionally, we don't know."

Police are working to ID the victim.
