Developments in Bashara murder investigation

Sources: Police at crossroads with conflicting stories about Jane Bashara's murder

GROSSE POINTE PARK, Mich. – Tonight there are new developments on the Grosse Pointe Park murder of Jane Bashara.

According to multiple sources, the murder is still a very active investigation, but police are at a crossroads with conflicting stories about what happened to Jane Bashara.

"I really don't know if we will ever know the truth. Personally, I suspect there is some involvement on his (Bob Bashara) part," said a woman who asked not to be identified.

Friday, Joe was released by Grosse Pointe Park police after confessing he strangled Jane Bashara in her garage last week and was paid $2,000 by her husband. But Joe's story is not consistent, and that's why he was released.

The police and prosecutors office have only said their investigation continues.

Saturday, the unnamed woman, told Local 4 the murder mystery is a strain on the community.

"It just really saddens me. The family has just got to be torn apart. There were obviously problems in the family to begin with," said the woman.

Since Joe was released by police Friday, the Bashara family did ask for police protection, however the police said if there are any issues to call 911.

No arrests have been made in the case.
