Man arrested after running from police with a toddler in his arms when he was pulled over for driving a stolen car.

FERNDALE -

Police in Ferndale say they’ve arrested a man who ran from police with a toddler in his arms after being pulled over for driving a stolen car.

Ferndale police say Vilary Renard Reed was stopped Tuesday on Eight Mile Road because he was driving a stolen Ford Crown Victoria. He then sped off, driving on side streets and running stop signs until he crashed in Detroit at Pennington Drive and Pembrooke Avenue, police said.

Reed took off running on foot carrying a 21-month-old boy, eventually handing him to a woman he passed, police said.

He was eventually arrested.
