DEARBORN, Mich. -

Dearborn Public Schools has announced a plan that will pay tribute to Robert Cipriano, the former Business Services Director for the district.

The school district says the plan will carry on Cipriano's mission of serving students in the area.

"We wanted to create an event that will honor the work that Bob did in Dearborn, help his family, and benefit a large number of Dearborn students," said Dearborn Public Schools Superintendent Mr. Brian Whiston.

The Farmington Hills father died after being beaten with a baseball bat in his home on April 16.  His wife, Rose Cipriano, and son seriously injured.

Bob worked with district since July 2000.  The district says he was not a "behind the desk" administrator. He would routinely be seen at buildings, working directly with principals, attending sporting events in the district, and reading to students.

Cipriano was responsible for managing the district’s $200 million budget and oversaw district athletics.

The district will hold the tribute for Cipriano at Edsel Ford High School on its football track and field on Wednesday, May 23 at 9:30 a.m.
