DEA agents raid medical office buildings in Commerce Township, Clinton Township

The DEA executed federal search warrants at medical offices in Commerce Township and Clinton Township Tuesday morning in connection with a prescription drug fraud investigation.

COMMERCE TOWNSHIP, Mich. -

Local 4 has learned that the DEA executed federal search warrants at medical offices in Commerce Township and Clinton Township Tuesday morning in connection with a prescription drug fraud investigation.

Agents were seen carrying out boxes of evidence at both the Macomb Medical Center on 19 Mile Road and the Union Lake Medical Center on Union Lake Road.

Signs on the offices said they were closed for the day and patients were turned away.

The office in Commerce Township belongs to Dr. Rajat Daniel.

Patients who showed up to his office told Local 4 they were surprised by what was happening. They said they had never had any problems with Daniel.

Local 4 Defender Kevin Dietz reported Monday night on the rising trend of prescription pill addiction and fraud.
