TAYLOR, Mich. -

Taylor Police say 3 people were arrested after a crowd of more than 3,000 people waiting for Government assistance became unruly.

Those on the scene waiting in line for vouchers say some started lining up as early as Friday afternoon for the Section 8 housing vouchers that were being handed out Saturday morning.

The vouchers were supposed to be handed out at a Taylor city building off Eureka road, however, police say the event was canceled and they will try again to give out the vouchers Sunday.

The crowd claims that once the buildings parking lots lights went out around 6:30 a.m. is when some began cutting in line and that's when the chaos started.

Taylor Police said they had a lone officer on the scene as early as 2 a.m. Saturday but more officers, including the Michigan State Police, had to respond to assist the unruly crowds.

Taylor Police say no one was injured and no force power, such as pepper spray, was used to control the crowds.
