Crime Stoppers of Michigan offered a $1,000 reward for information that leads to the arrest of whoever stole audio equipment from a Detroit church.
The robbery happened in the middle of the night on February 5th, at True Gospel Tabernacle Church.
The church is located in the 20000 block of Ryan Road between Eight Mile Road and Outer Drive.
The thieves took $15,000 worth of audio equipment. Pastor Roderick Dallas believes whoever stole the items were familiar with the church and have been there before.
John Broad with Crime Stoppers urged churches to get involved in their Stand Up, Speak Out initiative by talking to their congregation about the moral responsibility everyone has to help prevent crime.
"This is something that hurts us deeply to the core, I am a second generation pastor and my dad founded this ministry back in 1973," said Dallas. "For someone to come in and attempt to take things that he was instrumental in building, he has gone on, he died 11 years ago, so this really hurts my heart
Dallas said thieves attempted to break into his church on a second occasion.
"I believe that the misfortune of our church assembly sheds light on a much larger issue that plagues our local community," said Dallas. "We can't quit as citizens and just accept this as normal behavior."
The church security guard found foot prints in the fresh snow leading from the church's back door to nearby houses after the second break in.
"Now I was told not to preach," said Dallas during the press conference. "It's hard to stop, you know as you can see I am very passionate about what has taken place and I just hope and I pray that there is someone here that knows something about what has taking place and will speak up."
Anyone with information is asked to call 1-800-SPEAK-UP.
"The thieves will not win," said Dallas.
Crime Stoppers says if a tip comes in by midnight Wednesday, the reward will increase by $1,000 for a total of $2,000.
