Court orders Inkster judge James' suspension

DETROIT – The Michigan Supreme Court announced Thursday an order to suspend Judge Sylvia James who worked out of Inkster's 22nd District Court.

The Judicial Tenure Commission has been ordered to suspend James without pay.

James was placed on paid administrative leave by the Supreme Court in April amid accusations that she committed financial improprieties, administrative improprieties, employment improprieties and misrepresentation.

Inkster city officials accused James of withholding where and how she spent public funds.

Washtenaw County's 15th District Court Judge Ann Mattson has been appointed Master and will hear the formal complaint.

James and her attorney have fought the accusations.
