Construction worker killed by driver on I-94 in St. Clair Shores

Construction worker killed in crash

ST. CLAIR SHORES, Mich. -

A construction worker was killed Saturday morning by a driver on I-94 in St. Clair Shores.

The incident happened in the eastbound lanes near 11 Mile Road.

Police said the driver went into a work zone, hitting the Michigan Department of Transportation contractor surveyor.

The victim is a man from Standish.

MDOT Spokesman Rob Morosi said the victim was working on a two-day planned project.

The driver of the vehicle that hit the worker had to be extricated from the vehicle, St. Clair Shores police said.  He is expected to survive.

The Michigan State Police Department is investigating.
