DETROIT -

The U.S. Coast Guard has equipment and manpower ready for potential ice rescues on the Great lakes.

Warmer temps have made the ice thin and unsafe in many areas. Temps may reach into the 50s this weekend which increases the chances of people and animals falling through the ice.

A reminder to those that do head out on the ice to fish or other recreation is that you should make sure you have floatation gear, cellphone and tell others when and where you are going to be on the ice in case of an emergency.
