FRASER, Mich. -

Clinton Township police say someone is impersonating a student athlete and selling fake magazine subscriptions.

Police said a 20-year-old woman from Arizona, who is identifying herself as a Fraser softball athlete, has been going door-to-door asking for money for the subscriptions, which she claims will go to soldiers. One resident snapped a picture of the woman when she was at his door.

Investigators said they think she is part of a larger scale operation. There is another reported incident involving a man who scammed an elderly woman out of $352 -- under the same pretense -- that he was from a soccer team.

Anyone with information is asked to call Clinton Township police at 586-493-7925.
