Clinton Township man charged for selling K2, bath salts, 'shoe deodorizer' to kids

Man arrested, charged for selling K2, bath salts, so-called shoe deodorizer

CLINTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Believed to be supplying local stores with K2 and bath salts, Garabed Mardirossian went in front of a judge.

However, this Clinton Township man's journey to a Fraser court took more than 3,000 miles.

"He left the state and fled to California," said Fraser Police Lt. Dan Kolke.

The Local 4 Defenders reported Mardirossian was wanted for bouncing checks to buy boxes of K2 and what is believed to be the new face of bath salts. It's a so-called shoe deodorizer named Pump It Powder.

"It was weird to see the foot powder, but again because it's all packaged in colorful containers it appears it's all being distributed to kids," said Kolke.

Police said Maridirossian left Michigan to hide out in California. He was tracked down, arrested and flown back to Detroit. However, the fugitive had a layover in Philadelphia where officers say he tried to escape.

"They had to call Philadelphia police and they found him in the hospital," Kolke said.

Three days and more than 3,000 mile after the Defenders story aired revealing what police say is the new look of bath salts, Maridirossian stands in front of Judge Cathy Steenland to learn his fate.

"There will be no bond," the judge said.
