Clinton Township jewelry store robbed

Thieves bust through walls to get inside

CLINTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. – A family-owned jewelry store was robbed early Tuesday morning on Garfield Road in Clinton Township.

The thieves entered the Ati's Jewelry store through the wall of an empty building at the end of the strip mall, then through the adjacent Dairy Queen and into the jewelry store.

They smashed through the wall and headed for the safe.

Surveillance video from the store shows the robbery. The suspect is shown wearing a mask and sifting through a safe.

The family is distraught over the robbery.

"I just want to collapse," said owner Sandy Wowk. "I can't even breathe anymore. They had ransacked the whole room."

Wowk hopes the community will help her catch the thieves.

Clinton Township police were investigating.
