PONTIAC, Mich. -

An Oakland County citizen's grand jury has indicted a man in killing of his mother earlier this year inside their Highland Township home.

In a statement, Oakland County Prosecutor Jessica Cooper said 21-year-old Jeffrey Pyne is charged with first-degree murder in the death of 51-year-old Ruth Pyne.

Cooper said Ruth Pyne was found beaten and stabbed on May 27.

Cooper said testimony from family, friends and coworkers of Jeffrey Pyne produced evidence linking him to the killing.

He is being held without bond.

The case has been assigned to Oakland County Circuit Court Judge Leo Bowman for trial.
