FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. -

The two survivors of an attack that left a Farmington Hills man dead are now reported to be making modest improvements.

When Robert Cipriano was killed in a baseball bat attack in the family's Farmington Hills home last month. his wife, Rose, and son, Salvatore, were badly beaten and hospitalized.

Both remain in critical condition at Botsford Hospital in Farmington Hills, but a spokeswoman for the hospital reports both are showing what doctors consider purposeful movements and responses to simple requests.

The family's eldest son, 19-year-old Tucker Cipriano and 20-year-old Mitchell Young are both jailed and charged with first-degree murder in the fatal attack.

They are also charged with assault with intent to murder for the beatings that hospitalized 50-year-old Rose Cipriano and 17-year-old Salvatore Cipriano.

The two suspects have a preliminary examination hearing scheduled for May 23.
