Bob Bashara violated mistress's protection order against him, her attorney says

Bob Bashara's former girlfriend, Rachel Gillett, has fled state in fear of Bob, her attorney says

DETROIT – Attorney Doraid Elder called his client, Rachel Gillett, with news: Bob Bashara is under arrest for hiring a hit man.

Gillett, Bashara's former mistress, has left the state of Michigan but no before she filed a personal protection order against Bob. On Tuesday, the Local 4 Defenders learned Bashara has violated the judge's order to stay away from Gillett. Elder says Bashara violated the PPO twice.

While sources say Bashara tried to hire a hit man to kill handyman Joe Gentz, Elder says he is not taking any chances with Gillett because she also could be a key witness if ever called to testify about Bob Bashara's possible role in his wife Jane Bashara's January murder.

"We're concerned with the safety of Rachel, and she's definitely not taking this lightly," Elder said.

Police in Gillett's city have been on notice and they're spending extra time keeping watch over Gillett. However, her attorney says the now-former Michigander still is fearing for her life.

"She's petrified. She's obviously shocked," Elder said. "The most important piece to the puzzle that the prosecutor's are putting together, in my opinion, is Rachel. So, if Gentz and Rachel were out of the picture, Bob has nothing to worry about."
