DETROIT – Bob Bashara will go on trial in November for allegedly trying to hire a hit man to kill the suspect who is charged with his wife's murder.
The Grosse Pointe Park man is charged with solicitation of murder. The date has been set for Nov. 12.
Bob Bashara's new lawyer, Mark Krieger, entered a not guilty plea on his behalf earlier this month.
The prosecution said it is expecting to have between 10 and 12 witnesses, but will have a final list 30 days before the trial date.
The prosecution and defense have been asked to come up with a jury questionnaire.
The target of Bashara's alleged hit is Joe Gentz, who is the only person who faces murder charges for the strangulation death Jane Bashara. She was found dead Jan. 25 in the back of her sports utility vehicle in a Detroit alley, one day after her husband had reported her missing.
Prosecutors also are calling Bob Bashara a suspect in his wife's murder, but he has not been charged in relation to it.
