Audi To Build Assembly Plant In North America

DETROIT -

Audi AG is currently finalizing the details of a new vehicle assembly plant to be constructed in North America.

The popular Volkswagen brand is still deciding the location of the plant, its capacity and what models will be built there. According to Audi CEO Rupert Stadler, all of those decisions will be made in the next 36 months.

?It is totally clear that we need new production capacity in the U.S.,? Stadler said in an interview. ?The question only is when.?

According to Audi sources, there is also consideration to build an engine and transmission plant in North America which could be shared with another Volkswagen division.
