Attorneys seek separate trials for Cipriano baseball bat beating suspects

The Farmington Hills man charged with killing his father and severely injuring his mother and brother in a violent baseball bat beating attack is due in court today for a forensic examination.
Tucker Cipriano, 19, is charged with murdering Bob Cipriano on April 16 in his Farmington Hills home. The teen's mother, Rose, and 17-year-old brother, Sal, spent weeks in the hospital recovering.
Tucker kept a steady gaze downward during his pretrial hearing. Psychiatrists have already interviewed him three times to see if he is competent to stand trial. That report is expected in a few weeks. A separate issue is Tucker's mental state during the beating of his father and the near-fatal beatings of his mother and brother.
Tucker Cipriano’s friend, Mitchell Young, is also charged in the attack. Young says he was hit by Tucker the night of the attack. Both defense lawyers are asking for separate trials.
A hearing Tuesday will determine if he is competent to stand trial.
