American Airlines pilots allowed to use iPads during entire flight

Travelers upset by the double standard for pilots

DETROIT – Travelers wanting to use their electronic devices during all phases of flight still have to wait, but that's no longer the case for American Airlines pilots.

The Federal Aviation Association has given the go ahead for AA pilots to use their iPads during the entire flight.

Some travelers claim it's a double standard, questioning why two iPads are allowed.

The FAA is defending the case saying, when it comes to "potential interference", two iPads is different from "unlimited passenger use."

So far, this is only for some flights of American Airlines flights.

The FAA is currently working to do further testing, which will hopefully result in a change. As of now, the committe will be formally established in the fall and will meet for six months.

Until then, passengers will have to put away those devices during take-off and landing.
