The driver SUV says the brakes failed, causing a chain reaction of collisions on Mack Avenue at Conner Street.

Seven people, including a 5-year-old child, were injured Tuesday night in a four-vehicle crash on Mack Avenue at Conner Street on Detroit's east side.

Local 4 has learned the driver of a Chevrolet Trailblazer heading north on Conner Street said her brakes failed and she could not stop at the red light at Mack Avenue. The SUV was T-boned by a silver Jeep.

The Trailblazer then spun into another vehicle and a 4th vehicle also was involved. All seven people were taken to a nearby hospital.

Thankfully, none of their injuries are life-threatening.
