6 appointees sue Wayne County executive

Six appointees of Wayne County Executive Robert Ficano are now suing the county leader.
The appointees claim Ficano cheated them out of severance benefits which, they say, he promised them more than a year ago. They say Ficano took away the severance benefits once the severance scandal broke about Turkia Mullin's payout.
The plaintiffs say they were going to retire but Ficano convinced them to stay with the promise of additional compensation.
The lawsuit asks for damages, costs and attorneys fees.
A spokesman for Ficano released the following statement Friday evening:
"As part of his commitment to revisit all aspects of the executive benefit plan, Executive Ficano made a decision last October to rescind the early retirement offer extended to the Plaintiffs. He believes it is a proper legal question for the courts to decide if the separation agreements are enforceable and incapable of being rescinded," said spokesman Patrick Dostine.
