Two Southfield Public Schools -- Bussey Center for Early Childhood Education and Southfield-Lathrup High School -- were briefly placed on lockdown Thursday afternoon after someone spotted a person with a gun in the area.

The school district says children, staff members and parents at the schools all are safe.
