2 Eastpointe officers facing charges for misconduct

Eastpointe officers allegedly sold seized items for drugs

EASTPOINTE, Mich. – One officer from the Eastpointe Police Department has resigned and another is under investigation for misconduct.

Both officers involved worked in the drug enforcement unit.

The pair allegedly sold off seized items that included: a Rolex watch, jewelry, televisions and tire rims.

The items were believed to be traded or sold in exchange for cocaine and heroine.

The story came to light after some of the seized items were found listed for sale on craigslist.

A local doctor, under investigation himself, received the seized Rolex and started talking to investigators.

Both officers may soon face criminal charges.

The officer who resigned will likely be the first charged.

The case surrounding both officers is on-going and evidence in the case was recently handed over to the Macomb County prosecutor.
