PLYMOUTH TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Detectives with the Plymouth Township Police Department are asking for your help in finding a 15-year-old teenage girl and a 37-year-old man who were last seen Sunday night in Northville Township.
Emily Lalinsky and Bob Messer left matching notes behind for their respective families, in which they declared their love for one another.
Lisa Schwartz is Emily's mother, who said she and her children first met Bob Messer eight years ago at a church. Over time, they grew to go on trips together and celebrate holidays.
"He was like a brother to me and was like my kids' dad." Schwartz said.
Lisa Schwartz said she never notice any red flags in the relationship.
"They never held hands, or acted romantically involved. Am I that naive that I missed everything? Were there signs and I missed them?" Schwartz asked.
The couple has left behind all communication devices and have no money. The Plymouth Township police are concerned for her safety and are asking for the public's help in finding her.
Lisa Schwartz said she hopes the two return.
"I miss her. She's my daughter. I ant her back and I just want both of them to come back and we can work this out, figure it out\," Schwartz said.
