DETROIT -

Michigan State Police are investigating a fatal crash that happened Wednesday night in Detroit.

Witnesses reported that a driver of a 2008 Pontiac G6 lost control of his vehicle on the southbound I-375 ramp to Madison Avenue just before midnight.

The driver, 19-year-old Cody Michael Ponder of Mount Clemens, reportedly struck the median wall and was ejected from his car, which continued traveling for approximately 400 feet.

Ponder was subsequently transported to Detroit Receiving Hospital and pronounced dead upon arrival.

The accident is continuing to be investigated by State troopers.

It has been indicated that speeding and lack of seatbelts were both factors in this accident.
