DETROIT – The Detroit Red Wings have signed veteran forward Brad Richards to a 1-year contract.

The 35-year-old's contract is worth $3 million, according to multiple reports.
Richards has been a reliable, point-producing NHL center since entering the league in 2000 with the Tampa Bay Lightning. He won the Stanley Cup and Conn Smythe Trophy in 2004 with the Lightning.
He had stints with the Dallas Stars and New York Rangers before joining the Chicago Blackhawks last season. He won his second Stanley Cup just a few weeks ago. He scored 14 points in 23 playoff games with the Blackhawks.
Richards has potted 288 goals and 616 assists in 1,058 career NHL games.
