DETROIT -

Detroit Red Wings forward Johan Franzen's concussion problems have forced him to pull himself off of Sweden's Olympic team.

The Red Wings say Franzen still is suffering from headaches after a concussion he suffered Dec. 15 against the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Franzen was placed on short-term injured reserve on Tuesday. He tried for a comeback Sunday against the Florida Panthers and even logged an assist in the 5-4 shootout loss.

However, he was still suffering concussion symptoms.

Franzen has 9 goals and 14 assists in 31 games this season.
