Alert 'Sneeze Patrol' with what's going around Metro Detroit

Doctors in several counties report all our wacky weather is to blame for both colds and allergies.

DETROIT -

The weather is partially to blame for what is going around doctors' offices and hospitals in Metro Detroit.

Wayne County:

Spring Allergies
Asthma
Sore Throat
Stomach Virus
Coughs

St. John Children's Center said it's seeing cases of spring allergies and asthma symptoms, while Garden City Hospital reports a lot of sore throats and stomach viruses and Internal Medicine of Grosse Pointe Farms is treating lots of coughs.

Oakland County:

Colds
Tree Pollen Allergies
Asthma
Breathing Problems
Hand, Foot, & Mouth Disease
Coughs

At Clarkston Urgent Care, Dr. Tim O'Neill said spring colds and tree pollen allergies have picked up.

Metro Family Medicine reports asthma flare-ups.  Meanwhile Dr. Steven McGraw at Providence hospital reports severe breathing problems in patients with ashtma or COPD.  Hand, foot, and mouth disease is showing up in children. St. Joseph Mercy Oakland is seeing children with coughs and fevers.

Washtenaw County:

Strep Throat
Stomach Virus
Breathing Problems

Pediatricians at the University of Michigan Health System said strep throat season is starting up in school age kids and report seeing some stomach viruses. St. Joseph Mercy reports breathing problems related to COPD and changing weather.

Monroe County:

Upper Respiratory Infections
Sinus Problems
Spring Allergies

In Monroe County, Mercy Memorial is treating upper respiratory infections and sinus problems related to the growing cases of spring allergies.

Macomb County:

Upper Respiratory Infections
Cough (lasting up to 2 weeks)
Stomach Virus
Spring Allergies
Strep Throat

McLaren Macomb Medical Center is treating upper respiratory infections. Dr.Richard Reidy said several patients have had a cough lasting up to the two weeks.

Henry Ford Sterling Heights reports spring allergies and strep throat in children and adults.

Local 4 medical expert Dr. Frank McGeorge said getting spring allergies under control is very important because allergy sufferers are often bothered more by colds and other viruses since the nasal passages and eyes are already inflamed.   He said if you don't have an effective treatment yet, make an appointment to see your doctor.
