NORTHVILLE, Mich. -

A Michigan company has just won the sweet distinction of having the best chocolate milk in the country.

Guernsey Farms Dairy announced Wednesday that had been awarded the Best Whole Chocolate Milk in the country for 2013 by the World Dairy Expo.

The dairy beat out 820 competing companies from 28 countries, 43 U.S. states and 6 Canadian provinces.

Guernsey’s, which is family-run and based in Northville, has been in business for more than 70 years.

This is their first national award.

"Hopefully, being bestowed this award will bring more attention to the rich dairy history that Michigan has, and will ultimately benefit all of its farmers in some way or another," said owner and operator Mary McGuire.
