DETROIT -

Get your forks and maple syrup ready for National Pancake Day.

Visit IHOP restaurants on Tuesday from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. for a free short stack of buttermilk pancakes. Instead of a bill, customers will be asked to leave a voluntary donation for the Children's Miracle Network Hospitals programs at Beaumont Children's Hospital.

This year IHOP's goal is to raise $3 million, according to their website.

Since the event began in 2006, IHOP has raised more than $10 million to support charities and given away more than 14 million pancakes to support charities in the communities in which it operates. According to IHOP, all of the free pancakes served on National Pancake Day in 2012 would create a stack nearly 16 miles high.

Visit IHOP's website to learn more and find a restaurant in your area.
