Holiday Hope for Seniors campaign kicks off Thursday

In honor of this year's Holiday Hope for Seniors campaign, 25 American House Senior Living Communities across Michigan will celebrate with a community-wide tree lighting ceremony Thursday from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m.

Paper ornaments will be sold during the event and throughout the holiday with 100 percent of the donations going to every senior in need this winter.

The Holiday Hope for Seniors campaign began with ideas from residents at local American House communities wishing to help their less fortunate neighbors: seniors helping seniors. This year the 25 American Homes are lighting their giving trees and providing 710 local senior citizens with the basic necessities like soap and toothpaste for this winter.

This is the 4th year of the Holiday Hope for Seniors program and since its first year in progress, the program has helped more than 650 seniors in need, including 350 seniors last year alone.

All are welcome. A list of communities with their addresses can be found here.
