On the panel were city officials, Phil Cooley, members of local Detroit band Battlecross, Robert Trujillo and James Hetfield of Metallica.
Hetfield also added that they hope this will be the permanent site for the festival and its an amazing site for it. So far it is speculated that Orion will hold in Detroit until 2015 where revenue is expected to be $250,000 for the city.
Phil Cooley was brought on as a food curator where he has hand selected different types restaurants to serve food at OrionFest.
Trujillo said that Detroit is the perfect spot because of its rich music history, and that some of his favorite bass lines come from the motor city.
Hetfield said he wants to create history with this event despite losing money on it short term. with an expected 40,000 people this weekend, he wants to create a backyard bbq feel where everyone respects each other and just has a great time.
