How often should you change your windshield wipers?

When it comes to car maintenance it can be easy to forget about your windshield wipers. However, wipers play a pivotal part in keeping you safe on the road.

If windshield wipers do not work properly, it can make it difficult to see in wet-weather conditions. Once your wipers stop clearing the entire windshield, it may be time to replace them.

For drivers who live in regions with cold climates, or areas with a lot of sand, they might need to replace their wipers more frequently – about once a year.

According to, drivers who live in cold, snowy climates tend to use their windshield wipers more frequently to clean away snow and rain. This increased use can make the wipers wear out faster. also recommends that drivers who live in sandy areas replace their wipers more frequently. Although these regions don’t get a lot of precipitation, the sand that accumulates on the windshield can cause the wipers to wear down.
