Auburn Hills police: Someone is shooting BBs at car windows

Police say 6 incidents reported over weekend in Auburn Hills, Pontiac, Orion Township

AUBURN HILLS, Mich. – Auburn Hills police say someone is using a BB or pellet gun to shoot out car windows.

Police said there were six incidents from Friday to Sunday evening. Three of the incidents happened in Auburn Hills, the other three happened on the Pontiac and Orion Township border.

• Baldwin Road between Brown Road and Great Lakes Crossing Drive
• M-59, between Opdyke Road and Adams Road
• South Boulevard near I-75
• Squirrel Road between Auburn Road and M-59
• Walton Boulevard near Squirrel Road

Police said drivers reported having their window shatter or break while they were on the road. One driver reported being cut on the arm by glass.

Police said similar incidents were reported Jan. 5 -23. In all there have been 10 incidents reported.

Auburn Hills Police Lt. Ryan Gagnon said this is serious business.

"People reported hearing a pop, but not a gunshot, not the sound of a gunshot. It's consistent with a pop like the window just shattered, something hit the window," he said.

A possible suspect vehicle reported in a few of the cases is described by police as a dark-colored or black four-door car, possibly a Ford Fusion or Dodge Neon.

"It's concerning when somebody is driving down the road, regardless of the speed, this could lead to somebody getting seriously hurt, getting involved in a crash. Really, it needs to stop before somebody gets seriously hurt," said Gagnon.

Anyone who may have witnessed the incidents, or been a victim, is asked to contact the Auburn Hills Police Department at 248-370-9444 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAKUP. Crime Stoppers is offering a reward.
