The crowd was noticeably bigger at this year's NAIAS Charity Preview -- more than 12,000 -- than in previous years at one of the most prestigious, single-night fundraising events in the country.

DETROIT -

There was glitter, gold, diamonds, bubbly and of course cars. But even the shine on the supercar 2014 Corvette Stingray couldn’t steal the spotlight from some of the smiles and gowns that graced Detroit’s Cobo Center Friday night for North American International Auto Show Charity Preview.

The crowd was noticeably bigger -- more than 12,000 -- than in previous years at one of the most prestigious, single-night fundraising events in the country.

At $300 a ticket, millions were expected to be raised for a handful of area charities.

From military members to Miss Michigan, there were also car-enthusiastic couples both young and old.

Jennifer and Paul Kemp, who are expecting baby No. 4, stopped by the Honda exhibit to peruse a minivan option.

Terance Drake works in the body shop at Chrysler’s Warren Truck Assembly plant, where the Ram 1500 is made. He proudly got his picture taken next to the truck, which was the winner of this year's North American Truck of the Year.

“It’s all we’ve been talking about all week,” Drake said.

The night included a musical performance by Michigan’s own country-rocker Uncle Kracker.

ClickOnDetroit.com will be posting a slideshow from the event soon. Come back to see the pictures!
